nervous system burnout

Chronic Fatigue & Burnout

High levels of stress and anxiety in your life, over prolonged periods can lead to significant over-stimulation of your nervous system and a sense of exhaustion.

  • OT services can meet you where you’re at… establishing your baseline and helping you build your capacity again.

  • Chronic fatigue can present with heightened physical, cognitive or emotional elements, which OT services can identify and actively address, in a practical manner.

  • Working with OT alongside your medical specialist, psychologist, physiotherapist or exercise physiologist, provides a holistic approach to your active recovery program and the greatest benefit to you, in the long term.

Chronic pain

Persistent Pain

High levels of persistent pain can lead to emotional distress, poor sleep and low mood, reducing your engagement in life activities.

This cycle wears you down over time, especially seeing various specialists, trying multiple treatments or considering surgical intervention.

Occupational Therapy centres around reducing your emotional distress and anxiety during the recovery process, helping you focus your energy on best practice treatments, positive changes in your routines and symptom management.

  • Persistent pain can lead to reduced movement, in an attempt to avoid the pain experience, however this can cause secondary impacts to your health and wellbeing.

  • Working with an OT alongside your medical specialists and allied health services, can provide a more holistic approach to your recovery goals, helping you move beyond the physical pain and take control of your wellbeing.

Why Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapy navigates the gap between physical and psychological concerns, pulling together a truly holistic approach to your recovery and daily functioning.

Building functional ability encompasses both the physical aspects and psychological factors at play, such as motivation, emotional resilience, and coping strategies.

Clear benefits of engaging in occupational therapy include:

  • Improved functional capabilities

  • Enhanced quality of life

  • Effective management of physical and mental health challenges.

By focusing on meaningful activities, OT helps each individual regain confidence and achieve their personal goals.
